Director's Letter

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to ECOFIN of NMHMUN! I’m Chloe Ng, the chair, and I’m happy to have Gillian Wiles, my assistant director, as part of the dais. I look forward to hearing all of your insightful thoughts and detailed solutions over the one-day conference.

I’m a junior studying in Shanghai, China. In my spare time, I attend USA-UN format MUN conferences regularly, and I’m also part of the core team of our school MUN club. Outside of MUN, I enjoy playing music and reading plays.

The topic for ECOFIN is Closing the Digital Divide, so there is no need for setting the agenda since the agenda is automatically set to the only topic we have. This is an increasingly important topic to be discussed, as much economic activity and interaction between people in the 21st century rely largely on digital infrastructure and the internet.

I look forward to meeting you in November!

Sincerely,
Chloe Ng (she/her)

The Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN) deals with questions and addresses issues around global economics and finance, as well as its growth and development. The committee also concerns itself with addressing issues such as economic inequity and concerns revolving around the global market. (munuc.org)

ECOFIN Topic Summary

Bridging the Digital Divide

The topic of Closing the Digital Divide addresses the issue of people not having equal access to modern technology both within and across nations, creating subsequent problems such as their relative inability to communicate with others in different geological spaces as them, inability to access information and resources, among many others.
